This week I listened to the country songwriter, Kris Kristofferson, songwriter of "Me and Bobby McGee", "Sunday Morning Coming Down", and "Help Me Make it Through the Night". I tried to write a song in a similar style with the songaweek theme of HONESTY.

Lyrics

To be honest, I've been trying way too hard to be someone that I'm not
To be honest, I should try to be myself 'cause this life is all that I've got

Who am I exactly? I've changed so many times
Maybe I'm just acting 'tween the lines

No, I'm not the prophet you were promised
No, I'm not the gentleman who's modest
I know I can be good, but not always when I should
The only thing I'll claim is to be honest

To be honest, isn't everyone just faking it until they finally make it?
To be honest, there is nothing new under the sun so why try to escape it?

Art's not made in vacuums, everything's been done
So meet me in the backroom, to write a song

No, I'm not the prophet you were promised
No, I'm not the gentleman who's modest
I know I can be good, but not always when I should
The only thing I'll claim is to be honest

No, I'm not the prophet you were promised
No, I'm not the gentleman who's modest
I know I can be good, but not always when I should
The only thing I'll claim is to be honest
The only thing I'll claim is to be honest
The only thing I'll claim is to be honest
