This week I listened to David Bowie and tried to write a song in a similar style. I found that he would sometimes cut up random poetry lines and make a song out of them.
I did the same with an old poem of mine. Such a strange technique.
The song-a-week challenge was to include CLAPPING. Here is a YouTube video of the recorded performance: https://youtu.be/p8Js04hPRsY
Lyrics
It's not in the music, Mr. Debt collector
Your older brother is quite the trend setter
I suppose I've got time but the truth really is
Not something you read in handheld devices
Parents philosophies of someone being shot
In the celebrity protest streets, it's not
It's a million different neurons planning all of your past
Might repeat a mistake, Hey man, what screens do cast
It's what happening when you hang on
in a headline firing in unison
The only truth happened to you
Stop every word, it's what you do
It's not a video in the movie preview
It's not in the book on stock prices spews
We know it's not a march on your friend's shelf
It's not the long story what we're thinking now
It's what happening when you hang on
in a headline firing in unison
The only truth happened to you
Stop every word, it's what you do
